Z’Mari Mitchell, a 6-year-old African American boy, tragically lost his life on May 9, 2018, after being shot in his home in Decatur, Georgia. The incident occurred on May 5, 2018, when a 17-year-old boy, Meshon Williams, fired 31 shots into Z’Mari's home during an argument over a social media post. Z’Mari was playing in his living room when one of the bullets struck him. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries four days later.
