In the quiet town of Douglas, Georgia, the life of Christopher Leonard Tyson, a 48-year-old male, was abruptly cut short on Monday, May 7, 2018. On that day, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the Coffee County Sheriff's Office was alerted to a shooting at 118 Quincey Batten Loop, Lot 8. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Tyson suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was promptly called in to assist with the murder investigation. Their work quickly led to a suspect, 37-year-old Freddie Lee Lampkin Jr. Lampkin was arrested in connection with Tyson's death and faced a series of serious charges. These included one count of malice murder, one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Following his arrest, Lampkin was booked into the Coffee County Jail. To further the investigation, an autopsy was scheduled to be performed at the GBI Crime Lab in Macon.
Funeral services to honor the life of Christopher Leonard Tyson were held on Friday, May 11, 2018, at the Move of God Deliverance Center in Douglas. He was laid to rest at the Douglas City Cemetery.
