In the fall of 2018, the life of a St. Petersburg, Florida teenager was tragically cut short in Moultrie, Georgia. Jakayla Anderson, a 16-year-old female, died on October 16, 2018, from a gunshot wound to the head. The incident occurred at a residence in the 1200 block of 12th Avenue Northwest in Moultrie.
The Moultrie Police Department was dispatched to the scene at 5:33 p.m. and subsequently requested the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The investigation revealed that Anderson was at the home of 19-year-old Semaj Willis when the shooting took place.
Following the investigation, Semaj Willis was arrested in connection with Anderson's death. He was charged with involuntary manslaughter, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and reckless conduct.
