In the late hours of December 26, 2018, in Stone Mountain, Georgia, a verbal dispute that began in a convenience store tragically escalated, leading to the death of 38-year-old Mark Moss. Moss was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds in the middle of Mercer Road, near a Honda Odyssey. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses reported hearing four to five gunshots around 11:45 p.m.
The investigation into Moss's death quickly pointed to 40-year-old Reginald Eugene Ussery of
Decatur. According to authorities, the argument between Moss and Ussery moved from the convenience store to a nearby apartment complex, where the fatal shooting occurred. A witness reported seeing a man in a gray jumpsuit walking away from the scene carrying a white plastic bag.
An arrest warrant for Ussery was issued on January 30, 2019, and he was apprehended on February 6, 2019, at an apartment complex in Stone Mountain. Ussery was subsequently charged with the murder of Mark Moss.
