On a Monday afternoon in Savannah, Georgia, a day meant for recreation turned into a tragedy at the Savannah Quick Shot indoor gun range. John Salvati, a 59-year-old male, was at the White Bluff Road facility with his party on May 27, 2019, when a firearm was unintentionally discharged. The single gunshot, fired by a member of his own group, struck Salvati.
Emergency services were called to the scene around 3:00 p.m. First responders found Salvati with a serious gunshot wound and immediately transported him to Memorial Medical Center for urgent care. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, John Salvati succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The Savannah Police Department's Violent Crimes detectives launched an investigation into the shooting. After their initial inquiry, authorities determined that the shooting was accidental. Law enforcement officials stated that they did not anticipate filing any charges in connection with the fatal incident.
