Johnathan Cole Harmon, a 20-year-old White male from Ellabell, Georgia, was fatally shot on the night of June 11, 2019. The incident occurred behind a convenience store on Fort Argyle Road in Bloomingdale, Georgia. Harmon was with a friend when they heard a noise in the nearby woods. When they used a flashlight to investigate the sound, they apparently startled a group of individuals who then opened fire.
The gunfire resulted in Harmon's death and also caused injury to another person who was present at the scene.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, Harmon was described by his family as someone who loved the outdoors, particularly fishing. His death was a profound loss for his loved ones, who were still grieving the passing of his mother three years prior. A viewing was held for Harmon on June 13, 2019, followed by a funeral service the next day at a funeral home in Savannah.
In the course of their investigation, the Chatham County Police Department identified 23-year-old Arkeem Brown as a person of interest in the case.
