George Anthony Vela, a 24-year-old Hispanic male from Mableton, GA, tragically lost his life on July 22, 2019. The incident occurred just before 1 a.m. on Hickory Trail. Vela was returning home with his wife and children after watching "The Lion King" when they discovered their home had been burglarized. After the police left, Vela noticed a suspicious car parked nearby. Upon approaching the vehicle and identifying his stolen items inside, he confronted the driver and was fatally shot.
