In the early evening of November 18, 2019, tragedy struck in Glen Burnie, Maryland, when 28-year-old Xavier John Arthur Green was fatally shot. The incident occurred at approximately 6:03 p.m. in the 300 block of Morris Hill Avenue. Responding Anne Arundel County Police officers discovered Green unresponsive inside a residence and immediately began administering CPR until medical personnel arrived. Despite their efforts, Green was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy later confirmed that he died from multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was officially ruled a homicide.
In the wake of the shooting, homicide detectives began an intensive investigation. They processed the crime scene for evidence, interviewed multiple witnesses, and were assisted by K-9 units and police helicopters in a search for any potential suspects. From witness accounts, authorities were able to provide a description of a person of interest: an African American man who was seen wearing a light-colored shirt and dark pants.
As time passed with no arrests made, the case grew cold. Law enforcement officials have continued to appeal to the public for assistance, believing that there are individuals with crucial information who have not yet come forward. In an effort to generate new leads, the Anne Arundel County Police Department, in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, has offered a substantial reward of up to $20,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for Xavier Green's murder. The investigation remains active as authorities persevere in their quest for justice for Green and his family.
