On September 20, 2019, Charveil McNeal, a 20-year-old African American male from Claxton, Georgia, was found shot multiple times in the parking area of Raymonia Apartments on Easter Drive in Vidalia, Georgia. The incident occurred around 10:50 a.m., and McNeal was pronounced dead at the scene. The Vidalia Police Department, along with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), launched an investigation into the fatal shooting.
