On the evening of December 26, 2019, Parshal Shay Nicole Few, a 26-year-old African American woman, was fatally shot in her car on Dixie Drive in Thomson, Georgia. Known to her loved ones as 'Shay,' she was a mother of four and was in the process of picking up her children at the time of the incident.
The investigation into her death quickly led to the arrest of 30-year-old Quantavious McGahee.
Authorities reported a history of violent and abusive behavior by McGahee towards Few, and law enforcement had been called on previous occasions to intervene in disputes between the couple. Following the shooting, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called in to assist the Thomson Police Department.
McGahee was subsequently charged with homicide, child endangerment, and domestic violence. The case brought attention to the devastating impact of domestic violence within the community. Parshal Shay Nicole Few was remembered by her family and friends as a loving and compassionate mother who was dedicated to her children and had a passion for cooking. She had been pursuing a career as a Medical Clinical Assistant at Miller Motte Technical College and was also employed as a Nursing Assistant.
