In the closing hours of 2019, a dispute between two men in Savannah, Georgia, escalated to a fatal encounter, leaving one man dead and another facing a lifetime behind bars. The victim was identified as 28-year-old Tommy Frazier. On Tuesday, December 31, 2019, Frazier was at the Hitch Village Housing Community where he was confronted by Harry Pinckney.
The confrontation stemmed from a comment Frazier had made to Pinckney's daughter earlier that day.
Following a brief and heated exchange, Frazier expressed a desire to speak with Pinckney 'like a man.' Pinckney's response was to pull out a gun and shoot Frazier in the chest. As the mortally wounded Frazier attempted to crawl to safety, Pinckney shot him several more times. The entire tragic incident was captured on camera by a passenger in Frazier's vehicle, who was subsequently assaulted by Pinckney.
In the aftermath of the shooting, Harry Pinckney was arrested and charged with malice murder for the death of Tommy Frazier and aggravated assault for shooting at the passenger in Frazier's vehicle. During his trial, faced with the overwhelming evidence against him, including the video recording of the incident, Pinckney chose to plead guilty. He was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Tommy Frazier and an additional twenty years for the aggravated assault.
