In the late hours of a January night in Augusta, Georgia, a young man's life was cut short in what authorities describe as a robbery gone tragically wrong. Deivante McFadden, a 21-year-old male, was found with a gunshot wound inside his vehicle on Winston Way on January 12, 2020. He was rushed to a local hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators pieced together the events leading to McFadden's death, revealing a setup orchestrated by four individuals.
According to authorities, the group had lured McFadden under the pretense of a meeting. Their actual intent was to rob him. As the situation escalated, McFadden attempted to flee in his car. It was during this escape that at least one of the suspects opened fire, striking McFadden.
The subsequent investigation by the Richmond County Sheriff's Office led to the identification and arrest of four suspects in connection with the homicide. The individuals taken into custody were 19-year-old Carlos D. Mack, 20-year-old Ebonee Jones, 17-year-old Rian Raekwon Stone, and 14-year-old Janiah Sullivan. Sullivan, despite her age, was charged as an adult. All four faced charges including murder for their alleged roles in the fatal shooting of Deivante McFadden.
