Melanie Juliet Powers, a 37-year-old Black woman, was killed in Macon, Georgia, on April 26, 2020, in a case that unfolded inside the home on Radio Drive where she had been living with her young son and was nearing the birth of another child. Early that morning, deputies were called to the house and found Powers in bed with a gunshot wound to the head.
