In the early morning hours of May 13, 2020, the life of 28-year-old Vincent Bernard Smalls Jr. was tragically cut short in Savannah, Georgia. Responding to a report of a shooting at approximately 1:10 a.m. in the 2300 block of Pinetree Road, Savannah Police officers discovered Smalls with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators quickly determined that the shooting was not a random act of violence.
Their diligent work led to the identification and arrest of two individuals in connection with the homicide. On June 22, 2020, detectives took 19-year-old Labrea Adger into custody, charging her with murder and robbery.
More than a year later, on August 31, 2021, a second suspect, 31-year-old Kevin Wilson, was indicted by a grand jury. He faced a string of serious charges, including felony murder, malice murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. At the time of his indictment for the murder of Vincent Smalls Jr., Wilson was already incarcerated in Effingham County on unrelated charges. The ongoing investigation suggested a complex series of events that ultimately led to the untimely death of the young man.
