In the summer of 2020, a life was tragically cut short in Savannah, Georgia. Michael Phillip Peguese, a 32-year-old male, was killed by gun violence on June 25, 2020. The incident, which occurred on Oak Street, prompted an investigation by the Garden City Police Department.
Following the fatal shooting, authorities identified a suspect, Isaiah Goodman. He was subsequently arrested and faced a series of serious charges in connection with the death of Michael Peguese, including several counts of murder. The case against Goodman proceeded to trial, where evidence and testimony were presented over multiple days.
The trial, however, did not result in a conclusive verdict on the most severe charges. After deliberation, the jury was unable to reach a unanimous decision on five of the seven counts, including the murder charges, leading the judge to declare a mistrial on those counts. While the jury was deadlocked on the murder allegations, they did find Goodman guilty of fleeing and eluding, and not guilty on a count of aggravated battery. In addition to the charges related to Peguese's death, Goodman was also facing legal issues in a separate dog-fighting case.
