In the early evening of Thursday, October 29, 2020, a dispute in a Lawrenceville, Georgia, apartment complex parking lot escalated into a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 27-year-old Sayvon Redding. Gwinnett County police were called to the 300 block of Summer Ridge Lane around 6:30 p.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered Redding in the parking lot with at least one gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
