On the morning of January 28, 2021, 23-year-old Bradly Joseph Jordan was at the Sugar Mill apartment complex in Lawrenceville, Georgia, for his job as a pest control worker. His day was tragically cut short when he was fatally shot. A 911 call just after 10:00 AM reported the sound of a gunshot and a man lying at the bottom of a stairwell at 855 Walther Boulevard, near the Georgia Gwinnett College campus. When officers arrived, they found Jordan deceased with at least one gunshot wound.
The proximity of the shooting to the college prompted a temporary campus lockdown as police began their search for potential suspects, utilizing a K9 unit to conduct a thorough search of the area.
The investigation quickly led Gwinnett County police to a suspect. Roceam Wilson, a 26-year-old homeless man, was identified and arrested in connection with the shooting. Detectives believe that Jordan was approached by Wilson outside one of the apartments while he was working. Evidence from the scene, including footprints that matched Wilson's shoes and a shell casing that matched a gun in his possession, led to his arrest. Despite the arrest, the motive for the murder remained unclear to investigators. Wilson was charged with Aggravated Assault, Felony Murder, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.
While awaiting trial for the murder of Bradley Jordan, the case took another unexpected turn. On the morning of December 16, 2023, Roceam Wilson was found dead in his jail cell. His death brought an end to the legal proceedings that were anticipated to bring clarity and justice for the untimely death of Bradley Jordan, a young man who was simply doing his job.
