Wayne James Jr., a 32-year-old Black male, was shot to death in the early morning hours of November 1, 2020, inside Rumors Night Club on Jonesboro Road in Forest Park, Georgia. Police said officers were called to the club just before 2 a.m. and found him suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest after what witnesses described as some kind of altercation inside the business. He was still alive when first responders reached him, and life-saving efforts began there before he was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital. Even with that effort, he did not survive.
What unfolded appears to have started as a fight inside the club and then turned suddenly fatal. In the days after the shooting, investigators said they believed several people were tied to the confrontation that led to Wayne James Jr.’s death.
