The Sumter County Sheriff's Office responded to a call regarding a person shot in the Rainbow Terrace area at approximately 6:05 p.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Goodwin's body. The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a person of interest.
Law enforcement officials identified 26-year-old Corderious Smith in connection with Goodwin's death. Smith was taken into custody.
