Ronald Bernard Barner, a 58-year-old African American man, was tragically killed on March 13, 2021, in Atlanta, Georgia. His body was discovered in the 3000 block of Valeland Avenue after officers patrolling the area near Campbellton Road heard a barrage of gunfire and went to investigate. Barner had been shot multiple times and was found dead outside a home that was under construction. The incident marked the 24th homicide investigated by Atlanta police that year.
