On a summer evening in Savannah, Georgia, the life of 20-year-old Arthur Milton was cut short in a burst of gunfire. On June 11, 2021, a mass shooting erupted in the 200 block of Avery Street, where a crowd had gathered outside an apartment complex. A vehicle, described as a dark-colored or red sedan, drove by, and at least one occupant opened fire into the group of people. The hail of bullets struck multiple individuals, spreading chaos and tragedy through the neighborhood.

Arthur Milton was one of the victims of this senseless act of violence. He sustained fatal injuries and died shortly after the incident. Another man, 26-year-old Terryl Jamal Coleman, also lost his life in the shooting. In total, the attack left eight people shot, with victims' ages ranging from just 18 months to 33 years old. The sheer number of shell casings recovered at the scene, over 60, spoke to the indiscriminate and brutal nature of the assault. The incident was the city's 14th homicide of the year and left the community in shock and mourning.

In the aftermath of the shooting, the Savannah Police Department launched an intensive investigation. Law enforcement officials believed the shooting may have been the result of a conflict between two groups and noted that there had been a previous shooting incident at the same location just days before. Despite public pleas for information and a reward of at least $10,000 offered for tips leading to an arrest, the case has grown cold. Years have passed since Arthur Milton and Terryl Coleman were killed, yet no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made. The families of the victims continue to await justice, their pain compounded by the lack of closure in this unsolved tragedy.
