In the early evening of Thursday, November 10, 2016, the life of 21-year-old Cequan Borrum, a male from Savannah, Georgia, was tragically cut short. At approximately 5:30 p.m., officers from the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the 2400 block of Riviera Drive. Upon their arrival, they discovered Borrum suffering from a serious gunshot wound.
Emergency medical services were promptly dispatched, and Borrum was rushed to Memorial
University Medical Center in critical condition. Despite the efforts of the medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after his arrival. The Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department's Violent Crimes investigators immediately launched a homicide investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting.
In the days following the incident, authorities appealed to the public for assistance. On November 16, 2016, investigators released information about a vehicle they believed to be connected to the homicide. Surveillance footage captured the car fleeing the scene, heading west on Iris Street just moments after the shooting occurred. The police urged anyone with information regarding the vehicle or the identities of those involved to come forward, offering the possibility of anonymity and a cash reward for tips leading to an arrest. Despite these efforts, the investigation into Cequan Borrum's death grew cold, and to date, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified. His case remains an unsolved homicide.
