In the early hours of June 22, 2021, the life of 20-year-old Keichia Michele Greene was tragically cut short in a parking deck of a north Atlanta apartment complex. A Black female, Greene was discovered fatally shot in her car, which had collided head-on with a parked vehicle. The young woman, a native of Memphis, Tennessee, had only recently relocated to Atlanta with dreams of starting a new chapter.
She had secured a job as a caregiver and was on the verge of moving into her own apartment, the lease for which was approved the day after her death.
Keichia was a graduate of Trezevant High School and Remington College, where she became a certified Eyelash Technician. Remembered by her mother as a talented and award-winning artist who loved to draw and paint, she was described as someone who 'loved life.' Her mother, Shelia Greene, has been left searching for answers in the wake of her daughter's unsolved murder.
The investigation into Keichia's death has been met with few leads, and as of September 2021, DeKalb County police had not identified any suspects or made any arrests. In a desperate plea for information, Shelia Greene has offered a $5,000 reward from her own funds for any details that could lead to the capture of her daughter's killer. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain a mystery, including why Keichia was at the Avana City North apartment complex, where she did not reside. Investigators found a firearm between Keichia's legs and shell casings near her vehicle, but it was unclear if they were connected to the fatal shot. The case remains under investigation by the DeKalb police homicide assault unit.
