In the early morning hours of July 3, 2021, in Milledgeville, Georgia, a tragic event unfolded that claimed the lives of three individuals, including 29-year-old Tyric James 'TJ' Justice. The shooting occurred inside an apartment on Laura Court, a neighborhood known as Duplex City. Justice, along with his sister, 42-year-old Erica Reaves, died at the scene from gunshot wounds.
Reaves' longtime boyfriend, 38-year-old Quincy Lamont Jackson, was also shot and succumbed to his injuries sixteen days later at a Macon hospital. The violent incident left the community in shock and a family devastated, particularly as it happened just a day before they had planned a Fourth of July gathering.
The investigation into the triple homicide led authorities to identify a person of interest. Law enforcement began a search for 30-year-old Christopher Arnold, who was wanted for questioning in connection with the killings. Arnold was already sought on outstanding warrants for an unrelated aggravated assault that had occurred in June. Following a manhunt that involved multiple law enforcement agencies, Arnold was apprehended in a wooded area on the southside of Milledgeville. He surrendered to authorities after a nearly 40-minute pursuit. At the time of his arrest, police indicated that while Arnold was a person of interest they wanted to question, he was not officially charged in the triple-homicide case.
Despite the initial arrest of a person of interest, the case has remained unsolved. Years after the deaths of Tyric Justice, Erica Reaves, and Quincy Jackson, their families continue to search for answers and closure. The Milledgeville Police Department has stated that the investigation is ongoing, with detectives conducting new interviews and working with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's crime lab to analyze DNA evidence.
