In the early morning hours of July 6, 2021, a violent altercation in northwest Atlanta tragically cut short the life of 23-year-old A'nisha Shavers. An aspiring cosmetologist and business owner, the young Black woman was fatally shot in an incident that also left her mother, 44-year-old Janean Alicia Baker, wounded. The shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. at the Preserve at Collier Ridge apartment complex.

The events leading to the fatal shooting began with an argument between Baker and another woman in the parking lot of the apartment complex. Following this initial dispute, the woman reportedly contacted a male associate who then came to the location and opened fire on both Shavers and her mother. Both women were rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, where A'nisha Shavers was pronounced dead from her injuries. Her mother was listed in stable condition.

Atlanta police quickly launched a homicide investigation, believing the shooting to be an act of retaliation for the earlier fight. Investigators released descriptions of two suspects they were seeking in connection with the crime. The male suspect was described as a heavy-set Black man in his 20s or 30s, approximately 5-foot-7, with a medium brown complexion and a short to medium Afro. The female suspect, who was involved in the initial altercation with Baker, was described as a dark-skinned woman in her late 30s to early 40s, about 5-foot-5 and chubby, with small braids on the top of her head and larger braids in the back.

In the wake of the shooting, authorities offered a reward of up to $2,000 for any information that would lead to the arrest and indictment of the individuals responsible for A'nisha Shaver's death. Law enforcement urged the public to come forward with any knowledge of the incident or the suspects' whereabouts to help bring justice to the Shavers family. As of the available reports, no arrests had been made in the case, and the suspects remained at large.
