In the early hours of a Sunday morning in Augusta, Georgia, a tragic event unfolded that would cut short the life of Shawn Elbert Couch. On September 26, 2021, the 38-year-old male was at a residence on Ashley Drive when he was shot in the chest with a. 45-caliber handgun just after midnight. Responding officers discovered him in the backyard of the property.
Despite being rushed to Augusta University Medical Center, the wounds proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at 1:02 a.m.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led to the arrest of Marvin Dwayne Hall Jr., a 39-year-old male who resided at the home where the incident occurred. Hall was taken into custody and charged with murder and possession of a firearm. He was subsequently held at the Richmond County Detention Center without bond.
