In the early morning hours of Sunday, November 7, 2021, the life of 28-year-old Malik Sharkur Easton was tragically cut short in Columbus, Georgia. Responding to a call about an unresponsive person, Columbus Police officers arrived at the area of 12th Avenue and 20th Street to a grim discovery. There, they found Easton, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency services were unable to save him, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Muscogee County Coroner's Office later officially identified Easton as the victim of the fatal shooting. His death was ruled a homicide, prompting an immediate investigation by the Columbus Police Department.
