On December 6, 2021, Marcus Jones, a 32-year-old African American male, was tragically killed in a shooting incident in Columbus, Georgia. The incident occurred on 23rd Street, near Hamilton Road, around 7:26 p.m. When police arrived at the scene, they found Marcus Jones unresponsive, having sustained gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:12 p.m. This incident marked the 66th homicide in Columbus for the year 2021
