William S. Elliott, a police officer from Columbus, Georgia, tragically lost his life on March 27, 1901. Officer Elliott, who was responding to a domestic disturbance call on 5th Avenue, was shot and killed upon entering the scene. The incident occurred when he and another officer arrived at the location and Elliott entered a room where he was immediately shot by the suspect.
