In the spring of 2019, the life of 60-year-old Roy A. Wilborn Jr. was tragically cut short in Columbus, Georgia. A graduate of the 1976 class of Columbus High School, he was affectionately known as 'Man' to his loved ones. For most of his life, he worked as an interstate truck driver, a trade he pursued after exploring several others in his younger years.
On April 23, 2019, Wilborn was the victim of a fatal shooting on Illges Road.
He was pronounced dead the following day at Piedmont Midtown Medical Center. The incident was part of a series of unrelated homicides that occurred in Columbus around the same time.
In the days that followed, the Columbus Police Department made an arrest in connection with Wilborn's death. A 17-year-old was taken into custody and subsequently charged with his murder.
