Damian Nesbitt, a 37-year-old African American male, was tragically killed in a shooting on January 6, 2021, in Columbus, Georgia. The incident occurred in the early morning hours on the 600 block of 5th Avenue, marking the first homicide of the year in Columbus. According to Muscogee County Chief Deputy Coroner Freeman Worley, Nesbitt was pronounced dead at Piedmont Columbus Midtown at 12:51 a.m. following the shooting.
