On March 24, 2024, 16-year-old African American male Dennie Lee Henderson III was fatally shot in the parking lot of the SpringHill Suites hotel on Whittlesey Boulevard in Columbus, Georgia. Police responded to reports of gunfire around 4:00 a.m. and found Dennie deceased at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.
