In the winter of 2021, the life of 16-year-old Amarian Robinson was tragically cut short in Savannah, Georgia. On the evening of December 6th, the young male was shot and killed at the Chatham City Apartments. The incident stemmed from a dispute that had occurred weeks prior, setting in motion a chain of events that would end in violence.
The conflict had reportedly begun with a fight weeks before the fatal shooting, an altercation that involved Amarian and the brother of Jamary Isaiah Brown. In what prosecutors would later describe as an act of retaliation, Brown, who was 17 at the time, confronted Amarian at the Augusta Road apartment complex. In a brutal act, Brown shot Amarian more than a dozen times. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Amarian succumbed to his injuries.
In the days following the shooting, law enforcement identified Jamary Isaiah Brown as the primary suspect. Four days after the incident, Brown turned himself in to the authorities. The legal process that followed saw Brown facing a series of grave charges for his actions on that December evening.
Jamary Isaiah Brown was ultimately found guilty of malice murder, two counts of felony murder, aggravated assault, first-degree cruelty to children, and three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. For the murder of Amarian Robinson, Brown was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole. He also received a 20-year sentence for aggravated assault and an additional five years for the firearm charge, with these sentences to be served consecutively.
