In the early morning hours of March 17, 2022, the life of Brandon Scott Schvarcz, a 31-year-old White male from Savannah, Georgia, was tragically cut short. Described by those who knew him as a beloved son, nephew, cousin, and friend, Schvarcz's death was unexpected and came at the hands of another person. His friends and family were left shocked and deeply saddened by the loss of what they described as a beautiful soul.

The unfortunate events of that day began to unfold when Schvarcz's roommate, Steven Kinnas, drove to a friend's home in Bluffton, South Carolina. In a late-night visit, Kinnas confessed to his friend that he had killed his roommate in Savannah. He had arrived at her home in Schvarcz's vehicle. Following this confession, Kinnas, who was reportedly suicidal, took his own life inside the friend's residence.

On that same day, Chatham County Police Department officers discovered a male homicide victim in the 200 block of Quacco Trail in Savannah. The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office later identified the deceased individual as Brandon Schvarcz, confirming he was Kinnas' roommate. The Chatham County Police Department received information about the homicide, noting that the suspect was known to the victim and had later committed suicide at another location. Given that the sole suspect in Schvarcz's death was also deceased, the investigation into the matter concluded without any arrests or a trial.
