In the quiet Sunset Mountain subdivision of Rockmart, Georgia, the evening of March 21, 2022, was shattered by violence. Inside a residence on Chesapeake Way, 42-year-old Clinton Matthew Aiola, a white male, was with two other men, Cody Daniel Fuller, 30, and Davauntee Anthony Ramsay, 30. Their gathering turned tragic when two individuals arrived at the home with the intent to rob them. The situation escalated horrifically, resulting in all three men being shot. A call was made to Paulding E-911 at approximately 10:49 PM, reporting the brutal triple shooting that had just taken place.
The aftermath of the home invasion was grim. One of the victims died at the scene, while another passed away hours later at a hospital. Clinton Matthew Aiola succumbed to his injuries on March 23, 2022. The third victim, Davauntee Anthony Ramsay, fought for his life for several days before he too passed away over the weekend. The incident, which began as a robbery, had quickly become a triple homicide investigation, shaking the Paulding County community.
Authorities launched an intensive investigation to find those responsible for the heinous crime. Their efforts soon led to arrests. On March 24, 2022, deputies from the Paulding County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Marshals apprehended 26-year-old Carlos Favors-Battle in nearby Douglasville. He was identified as one of the men who entered the home and was charged with multiple counts of murder, aggravated assault, and firearm possession. The investigation continued, leading to the arrest of 28-year-old Bridgette Skye Jones on April 1. Investigators determined she was in the area when the murders occurred, had direct knowledge of the incident, and was subsequently charged with concealing a death and hindering the apprehension of a fugitive.
The second primary suspect was taken into custody on April 6, when U.S. Marshals arrested 29-year-old Justin Quartez Sims in Rome, Georgia. Detectives identified Sims as the other individual who accompanied Favors-Battle into the residence during the fatal robbery. He faced charges similar to those of Favors-Battle, including multiple counts of murder. All three suspects were booked into the Paulding County Jail and held without bond. The legal process moved forward, and in a subsequent trial, Justin Quartez Sims was found guilty for his role in the deaths of Clinton Aiola, Cody Fuller, and Davauntee Ramsay.
