Calvin Jerome Smith Jr., a 19-year-old African American male from Americus, Georgia, was found dead on August 8, 2022. The Americus Police Department contacted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) at approximately 8:25 a.m. on the day of his death to assist with the investigation.
