In the early morning hours of August 26, 2022, a fatal shooting at the Prominence Apartments in Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood claimed the life of 30-year-old Nader Farhat. The incident, which unfolded at the corner of Lenox and Piedmont roads, was investigated as the city's 110th homicide of the year. Atlanta police were initially called to the scene around 2 a.m.
to investigate reports of gunfire, with subsequent 911 calls indicating that a person had been shot.
Upon their arrival, officers discovered a man and a woman in the parking deck. The man, later identified as 40-year-old Christopher Cyprian, was suffering from a gunshot wound. He and the woman with him, 44-year-old Jameka Bagnerise, were detained by the police. Shortly thereafter, authorities found Nader Farhat deceased inside his apartment from a gunshot wound. The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office later officially identified the victim.
Investigators have stated that the preliminary evidence suggests the shooting was the result of a botched robbery with a connection to narcotics. Following the incident, both Cyprian and Bagnerise were arrested and have been charged with murder and armed robbery. Cyprian was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for surgery to treat his injuries before being taken into custody. Bagnerise was taken to police headquarters for questioning and was subsequently arrested.
Nader Farhat was an artist and engineer. His death was a great loss to his family and community, who remembered him as a kind, loving, and hardworking individual.
