Gerardo Munoz De La Paz, a 51-year-old Hispanic male from Magnolia, Texas, tragically lost his life on January 29, 2020, in Hockley, TX. Deputies discovered his body with a visible gunshot wound, leading to the conclusion that he was the victim of a homicide.
The investigation into Gerardo's death revealed that he was shot eight times at close range by an individual named Ramirez-Russel. This brutal act was reportedly committed over a debt-related dispute. Ramirez-Russel was subsequently arrested and charged with the murder of Gerardo Munoz De La Paz.
In addition to Ramirez-Russel, another individual, Juan Manuel Amaya Pavon, was arrested for assisting in the disposal of Gerardo's body. Amaya Pavon was charged with tampering with physical evidence. Both arrests were part of a coordinated effort by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the US Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement .
The case concluded with Ramirez-Russel being sentenced to 45 years in prison as part of a plea agreement. The State also agreed to dismiss two companion tampering with physical evidence cases against him.
