In the late evening of September 15, 2022, the life of 23-year-old Jermaine Brandon Reynolds was tragically cut short on the streets of Macon, Georgia. Deputies from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the intersection of Denton Street and Haywood Road shortly after 8:30 p.m. following a report of a person being shot. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr. Reynolds, a male, unresponsive and lying in the roadway. Despite any efforts to render aid, he was pronounced deceased at the scene by the deputy coroner.
The investigation into the death of Jermaine Reynolds continued for over a year. In an effort to generate leads, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office released a video to the public in April 2023. The footage showed a person of interest described as a slender Black male with a beard and braided hair that was tied back, who was seen wearing all black. Authorities appealed to the community for any information that could lead to the identification and location of this individual.
A significant development in the case came on November 27, 2023, when thirty-three-year-old Shavis Terrell Hicks of Macon was taken into custody in connection with the death of Reynolds. Hicks was apprehended by deputies from the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office and subsequently transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center. He was booked on charges of Aggravated Assault and Murder. At the time of his arrest, he was being held without bond as the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Jermaine Reynolds' death was still considered to be ongoing.
