In the autumn of 2022, the life of Sherrie Lee Hutto, a 41-year-old Caucasian woman from Chauncey, Georgia, was tragically cut short. A homemaker and devoted mother, she was known for her dedication to her family.
On October 13, 2022, Hutto was deer hunting in the woods off Brown Street in Chauncey with 65-year-old Donald Wayne Kuni of Eastman, Georgia. During the hunt, Hutto was shot by Kuni. She was immediately airlifted to Atrium Health Navicent in Macon, Georgia, where she succumbed to her injuries four days later on October 17, 2022.
The Dodge County Sheriff's Office requested the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to look into the shooting. The investigation led to the arrest of Donald Wayne Kuni on October 18, 2022. He was charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Following his arrest, Kuni was booked into the Dodge County Law Enforcement Center. The investigation into Sherrie Hutto's death remains ongoing.
