Joseph Fortson, a 34-year-old African American male from Augusta, Georgia, was tragically shot and killed on the night of November 27, 2022. The incident occurred at the Azalea Park Apartments located at 1814 Fayetteville Drive. According to reports, Fortson was visiting the apartment complex and was shot in the hallway outside the residences. He was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 1:10 a.m. on November 28, 2022.
