In the late spring of 2024, a violent act shattered the peace of a neighborhood in Augusta, Georgia. On the evening of Friday, June 14th, in the 2800 block of Waterside Drive, a shooting occurred that would ultimately claim the life of a 53-year-old Black/African American man named Edward Goins. Goins was struck by at least one bullet and was rushed to Wellstar/MCG for urgent medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, his injuries proved to be too severe.
