On the day before she would have turned 37, Hazel Janine 'Nene' Reese, a 36-year-old Black mother of two boys, was tragically killed. Her life was cut short on Christmas Eve of 2022, inside a Microtel hotel in Brookhaven, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta. She was a woman known for her infectious smile and laughter, a 'proud Mama Bear' who was the main provider for her two sons, aged 10 and 16.
