Lois Marie Marrero, a 40-year-old Hispanic female, was a dedicated officer with the Tampa Police Department. On July 6, 2001, she tragically lost her life in the line of duty. Marrero was pursuing a bank robbery suspect on foot when she was ambushed and fatally shot. The suspect, Nestor DeJesus, had just robbed a bank and fled into an apartment complex.
