Michelle Coleman, a 21-year-old African American nursing student at Florida A&M University, tragically lost her life on July 7, 2009, after being shot at a block party in Miami's Overtown neighborhood. The incident occurred in the early hours of July 6, 2009, when three armed men dressed in black opened fire on the crowd, injuring twelve people.
