Titania Mitchell, a 13-year-old African American girl, tragically died on April 13, 2013, in Jacksonville, Florida. The incident occurred at her godmother's home on Jacksonville's Northside. Titania was the oldest of five children present in the house at the time. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office reported that an 11-year-old friend of Titania found a loaded .22-caliber handgun and, while playing with it, accidentally shot Titania in the forehead, resulting in her immediate death.
