Gary Lee Tripp Sr., a 69-year-old Vietnam veteran, was found dead in his Jacksonville, Florida home on April 25, 2018. Tripp, who had recently celebrated his birthday, was discovered by police after a neighbor noticed his door was open and had not seen him for a couple of days. Upon entering the residence, officers found Tripp shot in the back of the head. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office launched an investigation into his death, treating it as a homicide.
