Larry Baldwin Sr., a 41-year-old man, was shot and killed in the early morning hours of June 21, 2025, outside a shopping/business complex in the 9500 block of Baymeadows Road on Jacksonville's Southside. Officers and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue responded around 3:30 a.m., but lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful. Another victim, 19-year-old Rubisnney Giraldo-Mina, also died from his wounds at the scene.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office publicly identified both victims later, and obituary notices subsequently confirmed Baldwin's death and age.
Detectives determined that an argument preceded the gunfire. As officers arrived, the suspected shooter—identified as Baldwin's 18-year-old son, Larry Allen Baldwin Jr.—was attempting to render first aid to one of the victims. After interviewing him and processing the scene, investigators arrested Baldwin Jr. on two counts of second-degree murder. He was booked into the Duval County jail that afternoon, according to JSO and county booking records.
Authorities have not announced additional suspects in the case. News releases and local coverage indicate the investigation centered on the dispute that escalated into the fatal shooting; there have been no public statements naming any other person as a suspect or describing an ongoing search for additional perpetrators. As of the latest reports in late June 2025, Baldwin Jr. remained in custody awaiting prosecution.
