Charles F. Lehman, who served as the Town Marshal of Anaheim, California, tragically died on July 23, 1872, at the age of 44. His death was the result of a gunshot wound sustained during a violent altercation at the Anaheim Brewery on July 21, 1872. Lehman had been called to the brewery to address a dispute between Deputy City Marshal David Davies and a civilian known only as Horton.
