Anthony Aceves Espino, a 32-year-old male resident of Anaheim, California, tragically lost his life on February 27, 2025. Authorities responded to reports of a driver who appeared to be unconscious behind the wheel of a vehicle near Ball Road, west of Sunkist Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered that Espino had suffered a gunshot wound. Emergency responders provided medical assistance before transporting him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Following the incident, homicide detectives launched an investigation, working alongside the Gang Unit and Crime Task Force. Their efforts led to the identification and arrest of the primary suspect, 19-year-old Lawrence Romero, a resident of Orange, California. Romero was taken into custody without incident on March 4, 2025, and was booked at the Anaheim Police Department on charges of murder. The case is set to be presented to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
